Two minutes can save time, money and secure your SAP data

Say what? We know how it goes. Whether you get chest pain, headaches, or are just plain tired, keeping an IT organization up and running smoothly is no small feat. There’s a lot of pressure in knowing you’re the backbone of the business. That’s why it’s always a pleasant surprise when a solution comes along that actually solves problems instead of adding to them.

Managed File Transfer (MFT) has been getting a lot of buzz lately, and for good reason. Users have found they can rely on it to do things FTP and other transfer technologies can’t. They’ve been able to monitor for potential leaks, prevent them and exchange files with any of their trading partners — even those without secure transfer technology. MFT also adds a lot of value to SAP NetWeaver PI®.

SAP NetWeaver users often add on multiple file transfer technologies in an attempt to transfer critical files securely. Truth is, SAP NetWeaver isn’t designed for far-reaching data transfers. You need a solution that will protect this data while reducing costs and complexity, and diminishing the odds of data leaking into the wrong hands. SEEBURGER Managed File Transfer for SAP leverages your existing investment, by centralizing file transfers within NetWeaver.

To help illustrate these things a bit more, we’ve created a short 2-minute video that provides a brief overview of SEEBURGER MFT for SAP. So take a break, put your feet up and watch the video.

SEEBURGER MFT for SAP Announced at SAPPHIRE NOW + ASUG Annual Conference

It’s the first day of the conference and so far the show has been great. We’ve had excellent and insightful conversations with SAP customers visiting our booth and the reaction to today’s product announcement has been tremendous.  Today, we launched SEEBURGER Managed File Transfer for SAP.  It is a complete MFT solution for SAP NetWeaver and SAP data leakage.  Here are a few highlights:

  • SEE MFT for SAP is the first complete tool for file transfers into and out of SAP that uses the power, flexibility and interface of NetWeaver and SAP
  • The solution eliminates the need for costly, complex and cobbled-together infrastructure for managed file transfer (such as multiple FTP/SFTP servers or gateway- or application-specific MFT servers) – and the people to manage it
  • IT centralizes, simplifies and streamlines the management of all your file transfers
  • SEE MFT for SAP provides visibility of file transfers from within SAP for employees, partners, IT staff and administrators

Viva Las Vegas! SAP’s TechEd and the New NetWeaver Strategy

by Dennis Gaughan

Man, time sure does fly. I was talking to someone this week about the integration between Gartner and AMR Research (still a big topic of inquiry), and I can’t believe we’re almost at the acquisition’s one-year anniversary. One of the things that was a big change for me was finding a large number of colleagues at the events I attend. Being one of the only analysts at AMR who covered enabling technologies that support business applications, I was often the lone attendee. It’s been a nice change to have a bunch of smart Gartner colleagues around who are interested in the same topics as I am. Read more

Smaller manufacturers traditionally have either avoided EDI deployments or utilized EDI translators that fail to fully automate trading partner communications. Until 2008, tile producer Florim USA fell into the second category. The 250-employee company’s POP mailbox-based EDI solution was not integrated with Florim’s SAP system, forcing customer service staff to spend at least 30 minutes of processing time per order. Related delays in generating advance shipping notices and customer invoices frequently led to angry customers and later-than-expected customer payments. Read more

SAP Touts Sustainability, Mobility, On-Demand, Social Collaboration, and In-Memory Technology at SAPPHIRE NOW

By Greg Gorbach and Sid Snitkin.

This year, SAPPHIRE morphed into SAPPHIRE NOW, where two physically separated, live but robustly interconnected, venues each hosted thousands of attendees. Tens of thousands more joined via the Internet. Co-CEOs Jim Hageman-Snabe and Bill McDermott delivered back-to-back keynote presentations, one form Orlando, and one from Frankfurt. SAP used this technique for all the keynote presentations and many other sessions throughout the event. This innovative model for a user conference was generally well received. Read more
